Ask AI, the tutor chat inside every Lernix AI material, now runs on a more advanced AI model. It has more recent knowledge, reads charts and figures more accurately, handles hard questions better, and makes things up less often.
The upgrade went live for every account on October 16, 2026, across iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web. It runs on our servers, so you do not need to update the app.
What got better in Ask AI
- Newer knowledge. The model’s training data now runs through March 2026, up to 14 months more recent than before. When the tutor adds background your notes skip, that background is more current.
- Sharper chart and figure reading. Reasoning about charts and figures in images improved by 34%. That is the skill you rely on when you photograph a textbook figure, a graph, or a slide.
- Better on hard questions. On a set of expert-level questions, the new model answers more than 4 times as many correctly.
- Fewer made-up answers. On an independent test that rewards correct answers and penalizes confident wrong ones, the score rose by 64 points on a scale from −100 to 100.

These figures come from the model developer’s published benchmarks and from independent benchmark testing, each run under its own test settings. They were not measured inside Lernix, so how much you notice depends on your question and your material.

What stays the same
- One material at a time. Ask AI still tutors the material you have open and answers from its notes. If a question belongs to a different subject, it points you to the right material.

Still double-check its answers
A smarter tutor is still not infallible.
- Check facts and numbers against your notes or textbook before you use them in an exam or assignment.
- Mind the cutoff. The tutor’s general knowledge stops at March 2026 at the latest. For anything newer, trust your course material.
- Ask for explanations, not answers. Using the chat to understand a problem is studying. Handing in its output as your own work is not. See Is using AI to study cheating? for a practical line.

Yes. Your earlier Ask AI conversations stay with each material, and new replies come from the upgraded tutor.
